Friday 29th September 2017 to 1st October 2017 – Scouts/Explorers Camping Competition  and training

Saturday 30th September to 1st October 2017 – Scouts Camping skills Training

Saturday 30th September to 1st October 2017 – Cubs Camping Skills Training

There are two ways to enter this event, either the full competition or as a team in training.

Full Event

Here, teams of 4 to 6 Cubs, Scouts, Rangers, Explorers, Adults camp for the full weekend from Friday night until Sunday afternoon. They are judged on all aspects of camping from arrival to departure and receive constructive feedback upon their camping standards with the best teams being awarded certificates and trophies.
The cost is £12.50 per person and includes camp fees. Teams are to provide & cook their own food.

A judge will dine/taste meals at each mealtime please plate a meal up for the judges on every meal

Training Teams

If the full competition is a little daunting or you’d like a chance to practise and learn without the pressure of the competition then the training team entry is the way to go. Arrive Saturday morning so you can spend more time setting up camp with people on hand to guide and assist. Judging still takes place with constructive feedback.
Cost is £8 per person and the teams of 4 to 6 people should provide and cook their own food.
The training team option is open to all just like the main competition but we also allow and encourage older Cub Scouts to also take part to start to build their skills up ready for Scouts.

Cub teams should have a leader stay with them but let the cubs do as much as they can with supervision safely.

For all teams, a set of challenges will be given to complete over the weekend and wood fires should be used with other fuels only as an emergency backup

Teams should submit their weekend programme and menu 7 days before the event via email.

Samples of each are below as an idea of what to aim for although you are more than welcome to change these to what you want to do.
