Service Teams at Bibby’s Farm provide fantastic support at a weekend or midweek in school holidays. We operate a service team rota where groups of young people, along with an adult leader or two will come and spend a weekend or a few days on-site and work in conjunction with our Service Crew to perform a number of tasks during their stay.
Although some of the tasks are mundane such as keeping the toilet block clean and sparkling and picking up litter, we also try and ensure that we schedule some more interesting projects into the weekend which could be assisting in delivering activities or maintainance or project work. We aim to help give young people the ability to work together as a team and also develop their skills in many areas whilst having fun whilst they do so.
The scheme is aimed squarely at the Explorer Scout section although we are also very open to taking older Scouts, Network members and of course similarly aged sections from all other youth organisations.
We provide free accommodation on-site, giving use of our Explorer Cabin which has two bedrooms that sleep 4 and 2 along with a toilet and basic kitchen with cooker, fridge, sink, kettle and toaster. In addition, larger groups can sometimes be accommodated in other bedrooms on-site by prior arrangement and of course, free camping is always available for additional service team members
We also provide brewing-up materials and cereal and toast for a basic breakfast and a simple lunch. Service Teams should bring food for their own evening meal and any additional extras if for example they want a fry-up for breakfast.
Service teams of young people MUST have a responsible adult to supervise and support them in their work on site. We are more than happy for service teams to bring an adult leader with them to assist in this but we also ensure that one of our adult Service Crew is directly responsible for their welfare and supervision in working within our health & safety systems.
